Animal Projects & Environmental Education Sdn. Bhd. (APE Malaysia) is an accredited social enterprise that develops programmes in support of conservation projects in a sustainable manner. Their work focuses on improving wildlife welfare in captivity and reforestation along the Lower Kinabatangan Wildlife Sanctuary.
APE Malaysia started planting trees in the Kinabatangan in 2008. The project is based at Kampung Sukau and is supported by the local community, providing income to 24 households. To date, more than 46,000 trees have been planted and maintained by the team, achieving 85% survival rate.
